On October 4, 2024, Her Excellency Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, President of the United Republic of Tanzania, officially launched the Commission for Assessing and Advising on Tax Reforms (Presidential Commission on Tax Reforms).

The establishment of this Commission stems from long-standing complaints from businesses and citizens regarding challenges arising from the tax system and various levies in the country. Additionally, the Government has continued to face the challenge of a mismatch between economic growth and the growth of Government revenue.

This Commission is expected to conduct reviews, analyze, and provide specific Recommendations on how to improve the tax system with the aim of enhancing the efficiency of Revenue collection while fostering a conducive environment for Investment and Business in the country
